Quality, One to One Instruction

Teaching Style

If you’re really keen to learn, then there is nothing better than quality tuition on a one-to-one basis, where each lesson can be spent focusing entirely on you and your guitar playing.

While there are general guidelines on how to: sit/stand/hold the guitar/left and right hand technique – which will apply to all students, an important feature of my teaching style lies within the musical content of the lessons, which will be aimed towards each individual’s own musical tastes and preferences; so that the songs and music you learn to play will  have meaning and relevance.

Learn to play – for the sheer pleasure of ‘making the instrument work for you’, for the enjoyment of making music for it’s own sake; or you might be interested in having the challenge of taking a Grade Exam?

Experience & Qualifications

Jon has twenty five years teaching experience – including private, individual tuition, adult education classes, primary and secondary schools (individual and group lessons) and colleges, and is CRB checked.

Academic qualifications and exams include ‘Distinction at Grade 8’ and an ‘Associateship of the London College of Music’

The Lessons – How often – Price – Location

A good routine for regular lessons, which works well for many people, is a fortnightly – three quarter hour session, currently charged @ £25. A small percentage of students prefer a lesson once a week, or just once a month; even just ‘one-off’ lessons can be arranged.

The lessons take place at my house in Emsworth, where all equipment and music resources are readily to hand, making for an efficient, effective and focused use of the lesson time.
